Tucked away in Lake Heights is a little piece of India that is worth checking out. If you are looking for authentic Indian flavours in an unassuming suburban restaurant then Mangotree delivers.Our group of three had the place to ourselves on a Wednesday evening. We grabbed a table next to the window and we’re served by a lovely waitress who was friendly and accomodating throughout our visit.The venue is ok, with a few exceptions. The toilets are a bit of a challenge as you have to walk around the back of the shops to find them and they are pretty hidden away.My only other issue was with the choice, or lack of choice, of nice beers. Nothing goes better with a curry than a nice cold beer and the selection at Mangotree consisted only of VB and Peroni. It’s such a shame because there are some really nice beers that could be showcased including Kingfisher which is really popular in India.Enough about the shortfalls, let’s talk about the positives. Like a Bombay train during peak hour the menu is packed with options including extensive entrees and curries to suit every taste and heat preference.We had the classic Chicken Tikka and the Barrah Kebab. Both were served on a sizzling hot plate with a simple onion garnish. The tikka was really nice. Tender prices of chicken with a subtle tikka sauce coating. The servicing was a good size for three people.The Barrah Kebab is a lamb cutlet that is covered in yummy spices and cooked in the tandoor. You will gnawing the meat off the bone as these are delicious and full of authentic flavour.We choose three curries including the Mango Chicken, Lamb Madras and the Dahl Curry. All were very good. The mango chicken is a very mild dish with a rich buttery sauce. The Madras a bit more complex and the Dahl delivered on wholesome and classic vegetarian Indian.The naan breads deserve an honourable mention as they are prepared fresh in a traditional tandoor. We had a garlic and a cheese which were both delicious.Pricing is fine, you get what you pay for and we left happy and full. For around $35/ head it’s in the cheap and cheerful category of dining.Thanks for a lovely meal 🙏

The food was incredibly oily! Deep pools of it on top of each dish, chicken, lamb, veg. Sauces tasted stewed, not fresh spices. Lamb rogan josh tough as boots. Will not go back

This is one of the best Indian restaurants I have been too, the cheese and garlic naan is amazing! Love going here, only negative thing is the wine list items are heavily marked up so recommend BYO and sometimes the food is hit and miss.

Authentic, fresh indian food, plus it’s around the corner from me. Only been a couple times due to not being very well off financially for some time, but since gainful employment I plan on coming more often. Thanks, guys and girls on the staff, your food has always been great, Vindaloo and garlic naan is the best!

Always disappointed with the service but this time not only extremely late but just didn’t arrive at all. They never answer the phone, ever. I have nothing nice to say, 1 star is too generous…Edit…they just turn the phone off or took it off the hook to avoid it ringing.

Ordered through Menulog, 40 minutes late on expected delivery time (delivered by restaurant), 2 hours from ordering time, it’s obvious to me that they sit on early orders, received COLD and I mean not even luke warm, I tried to ring them, maybe busy, anyway I reheated it, NOT IMPRESSED, save yourself and look elsewhere, I am sick of dealing with amateur businesses who can’t service there customers, thank god for Google Reviews, weed out the worst and bring in the best

We came here for Dine in but we decided to do takeaway because the plates and glasses were very dirty. We asked staff to get us a clean one but he brought back the same glasses by just rinsing it but without drying it. Please serve your customers in clean plates.
