Great location, views out over the water and a terrific atmosphere. The food we selected on our two visits was very good and well presented well but the menu is very limited in choice and nothing enticed us for desserts. The full breakfast option at $38 is well worth it (especially if you’re hungry) as there is a great selection of food and they will also cook omelettes to order – it doesn’t include barrista coffee though.

This is a bar/restaurant attached to the Crystalbrook hotel in Cairns. It has a lovely deck area that looks out over the ocean. The vibe is comfortable and relaxing. The service is pretty good – they are helpful and friendly. A little slow at times, but I think that is because of staff shortages, which are everywhere. The prices are reasonable for the location. I could sit here all day!

The place had really nice interior with a focus on the use of timber which was quite contemporary. For entrees we had the thinly sliced beef, agedashi tofu and kingfish/salmon sashimi. All the entrees were quite delicious with great strong flavours. Call out to the beef which was beautifully seared on the outside and raw on the inside. This made the meat quite delicate and tender to eat.For mains we had the crispy skinned pork belly. It was cooked quite nicely with a beautiful crackle on the skin and the curry was quite a good complement to the pork. However I did find the spiced pineapples and carrots a bit odd as to why it was added to the dish, didn’t seem to work that well. The sake and soy braised duck was a little disappointing. Main reason being we were expecting Pecking Duck with the Chinese pancakes (although our bad we didn’t read the menu properly).. so when we had braised duck.. it didn’t hit the spot. Putting that aside, the duck was over-cooked as it was dry and it lacked in strong fatty flavours which I would expect from a duck.

The entrees (I ordered the salmon sashimi tacos and son-in-law eggs) were nice, but I think the dry-aged beef was ok – not really worth $75. The baby barramundi was also average, didn’t come with the banana leaf which might have made a difference with the flavor.I must say though, customer service was excellent. The kitchen had some issues which caused a back log of orders and the staff acknowledged the delay and very sincerely apologized to us, explaining the situation. That was really appreciated.

We are here today for the Asian food festival for our community dancing performance. Dinner for two with steak and noodle was awesome. Also available some traditional foods stalls. Great service and yummy foods.

We’ve been staying at the Crystalbrook Riley. Breakfast was included. The selection is wide and good but gets monotonous after a few days. You have a choice of scrambled or boiled eggs. Occasionally there may be a person to cook poached eggs for you. There’s also Asian food, pastries, fruit, pancakes and your standard bacon and eggs etc.We had dinner one night that cost $236 for two mains plus one cocktail and one beer! The Singapore Chilli Crab was $150. Given you can buy them for $57/kg, the price felt excessive. However, it was delicious. It came with pork buns.I had the 250g steak for $38. It comes with nothing but a spicy sauce. I added on a $15 plate of Brussel sprouts.Cocktails were delicious and priced at $18. Beers are between $9-12.The restaurant appears to be very understaffed. We had a lovely waitress but they appear to lack leadership and organisation. All in all a good experience but I don’t think I’d be rushing back.

Very attentive staff, delicious meal and great atmosphere, the cauliflower steak was exceptional so we didn’t remember to take a photo. However the pork belly is a bit dry and our light on table went off in the middle of our dinner. But overall it’s a great experience and we’ll be back again.
