Been there for a spontaneous dinner on Friday night. They’re so welcoming and we’ve got a seat on the bar counter. Our waiter Spencer took really good care of us which was so lovely. I’m Japanese and very fussy about Japanese food but their food was so good with reasonable price. We’ll def come back and looking fwd to chatting with Spencer in Japanese again 🙂

Had dinner at the bar. Loved the whole experience! Food was generally very good. Nice flavors and with the two salads ordered, everything was well balanced. Great selection of sakes available as well.

Such a good restaurant in Melbourne’s CBD. Came with a bunch of my friends as we had heard some really positive reviews of Robata and it definitely lived up to expectation. The lady who took our food and drink orders was lovely and explained everything on the menu. We all appreciated the modern take on traditional Japanese food. Robata has a great atmosphere and really nice staff so I do highly recommend. I feel as though the food was appropriately priced, however some of the portions were a little small. Despite this one small thing I had a fantastic time here!

Dined here last night and realised our reservation wasn’t found. They were kind enough to find us a table less than a minute of stepping in. The waiting staff all wore their masks properly, no mouth or chin masks. Our first time there, we asked if the waiter could put together his favourite dishes and he did a wonderful job. We love the food and the service was fantastic.

We went to Robata on 25 May and we got:🐟 Seared salmon with mustard miso (must try‼️)This was the first dish we received and it blew us away! The searing on the salmon was something that we’ve never had before, combined with the mustard miso it was perfection 👌🏻🥩 Beef tataki, wagyu flank (must try‼️)All the elements in this dish worked well together which elevated the texture & flavour of the wagyu itself. The wagyu was so soft in contrast to the fried leek & enoki which created that soft & crunchy sensation in one bite 😋🦑 Chargrilled squid with cucumber saladThis dish was good but after the salmon & beef, it didn’t quite compare. However, we really loved the cucumber salad more than the squid itself and wished it was a separate dish that we could order to balance the main that we got🍢 Chicken thigh & meatball yakitoriThese two skewers were tasty but lacking a little bit of flavour. We loved the cured yolk dip tho as it gave these skewers more flavours. However, we appreciate that both skewers were cooked well.🥩 Chargrilled duck breast & yaki onigiriThis was the main we shared, both were separate items but we ate them together. The duck was perfectly cooked and the sauce on it was great, but after a few bites it was getting repetitive. As we mentioned at the top, this would probably go well with the cucumber salad or should be served with veggies that will break up the flavor. The yaki onigiri on the other hand was great!🥧 Miso caramel apple mille-fueille (must try‼️)We weren’t sure how miso would taste like as a dessert but turns out it’s great! The crunchy layers of the pastry, the cream in between and the caramel sauce were just incredible 🤤🍰 Sakura strawberry cheesecakeLastly, this dessert was amazing as well! The cake was quite light and fluffy which I loved, the cream was sweet enough to balance the cheesiness of the cake & the sweet-sourness of the berries.Everything was delicious and presented beautifully However, we felt that the starters were so much better than the main, so our experience throughout the meal was kind of like a downhill motion, only lifted at the end with the desserts. Some of the dishes I noted as must try are the ones we rated very high ‼️The place itself was well decorated and we received quick & friendly service which was great! Overall, it was a great experience and we encourage you to try this spot at least once ☺️

Great ambience, delicious food and good service. A little slow at times and the skewers did take a while to come out but this place is great place to have an enjoyable dinner with friends and family. I would suggest the second/last seating though so you’re not rushed out. I would definitely come here again.

Service was excellent and food was so tasty. The yakitori sticks were the best and wish we’d ordered more. The sashimi was such good quality and the condiments added really enhanced the flavour. We particularly loved the ceviche. Although we probably wouldn’t order the steak again (only so we could eat more of the other stuff as this was quite filling), it was cooked beautifully so was the Brussels sprouts. The potatoes are a bit out of place and heavy. But all in all fantastic dining experience. Cannot wait to comeback and order our favourites.
