Really enjoyed The Backyard. I was a bit hesitant after reading some of the reviews but I decided to give it a go myself. I booked with not much notice and they were more than happy to fit me in. Only a 5 minute walk from my hotel and it’s in a really central spot. They were quite busy and I now know why. Service was great – my waiter was excellent and a great asset to the Business. Drinks were great – Lemon Drop Meringue can not be beaten! Delicious! Started off with sourdough & garlic butter – was nice and a big serving but the garlic flavour was not very evident. For my Main I chose Chicken Breast with Potato Gnocchi, Pumpkin and Pine Nuts… It was just excellent, could not fault a thing – yum! And then I got convinced into dessert but once again… no regrets! They were donuts with cinnamon sugar and two dipping sauces. One was lemon and one was a sort of cream. Overall had a great night and will definitely visit again next time I am in Cairns. Loved it and I highly recommend!

Fantastic experience and great food! We returned from a fishing charter at 4pm. The team were handed our catch and in the time it took for us to return after a shower, Mel and Rochelle presented us with 5 exceptional dishes. Each dish was perfectly matched to the variety of fish that we caught and tasted absolutely incredible. Thank you for such a personalised and memorable experience!

Really delicious dinner! And good services!We ordered tuna watermelon and king fish as entree. Wagyu rump and surf and turf for main.The wagyu rump is really yum! Medium rare is just medium rare. It was melting in my mouth! Love itSince I am not a meat lover but seafood lover. This wagyu rump is really make me satisfied

beautiful food. beautiful company. beautiful times. COVID-19 vaccination certificates required for entry and the staff were diligent at checking. it made us feel safe during these times. i was very impressed and it made me feel like i could relax and be in the moment with my date. very grateful for the dining experience. had breakfast here too the morning after, it was a lovely time, relaxed atmosphere and great selection of hot and fresh food. the pastries! yum! if you’re staying at shang-ri la, don’t bother going anywhere else, you’re sorted food-wise a skip from your room.

We took some interstate friends to The Backyard Cairns last night. The service from start to finish was fabulous. The staff quick and attentive. I had glorious home made Gnoochi with soft pumpkin pieces and pine nuts in a delicious creamy pumpkin sauce. I think it is the best gnocchi I have eaten in Cairns . My hubby had the spicy prawns cant remember what it was called. Absolutely delicious and our friends had fresh Barramundi on a salsa base. Accompanied by white wines- perfect and a great view out over the harbour. We will be back.
