Kathy and Chris were welcoming from the moment we walked in. The food was delicious, the service impeccable the vibe was relaxed. Big props for the staff here, you’re doing a great job! Also the sticky date is amazing!!

After viewing the menu online, my partner and I decided to try this place out. Unfortunately, our experience was quite poor from the moment we walked in. We had made a reservation for dinner and weren’t greeted for some time when we walked in. After being seated at our table, our waiter decided to remove his mask to speak, rather than just talking louder. Our entree of pumpkin arancini balls was amazing and we enjoyed thoroughly. The drinks we ordered weren’t mixed very well (too much alcohol to mixer) and the glassware hadn’t been kept tidy during the mixing of them.Quite the opposite can be said about the mains. We ordered our mains at the same time as our entree, and took over an hour to get to us. It wasn’t until 40mins into the wait that someone came over to our table and advised our mains “shouldn’t be too much longer”. During this time, we had already seen another table approach the bar to ask where their meals were, as well as watching another couple come in and receive their mains within 20mins.When our mains arrived, I was absolutely appalled. I had the duck breast (second picture) and my immediate thoughts were “I could have made this at home for less than $40”. The carrot had barely been cooked, the duck was barely warm, and the potato was the hottest thing on the plate. The duck tasted like a cheap quality steak and was chewy. My partner’s beef cheek (third picture) was cooked well, but the portion size was small and didn’t hold much flavour.I was really disappointed with my duck and had actually decided not to eat it, instead I would wait for a staff member to do a table touch and advise them of what was wrong. But no one did come over and ask us about the food. At all. By this point I was frustrated and hungry and did not want to eat Macca’s for dinner, so I ended up scoffing it so we could leave ASAP.When standing at the counter to pay and leave, we were asked if we enjoyed our meal and I advised them of the food. They said they were sorry to hear that, and wouldn’t charge me for the duck meal. Their reasoning behind the wait and poor cooking was that “the kitchen was quite busy tonight”. For a restaurant that wants to charge what it does, this is an extremely poor excuse and a bad choice of words to use to a dissatisfied customer.I have not had such a poor experience in Bunbury and I will not be recommending this establishment to anyone.

Absolutely lovely service. Very nice ambiance. Stuffed mushrooms very good. Rhubarb crumble presentation very good. Worth a visit for sure.

A hidden gem in Bunbury. Very attentive and friendly staff. Perfect food. The most comfortable dinning chairs I’ve ever sat on. Not to mention the best Tiramisu on the planet.

OMG!amazing for bunbury.Wait staff are soooo nice,friendly, warm welcome. Food was exceptional, the environment for dining is so pleasant, do yourself a favour and dine here. Best tiramisu ever! Yummo 😋

Highly recommend The Side Door. We went for an early dinner and received a lovely warm welcome. Great selection of drinks and a relatively small but well balanced food menu. Both main meals were very well prepared with great flavour and perfectly seasoned. Desserts were just the right size and tasted great. The cocktails had plenty of spirits in them and certainly hit the spot. Thanks to everyone at The Side Door.

I had my birthday dinner at The Side Door tonight and it was incredible! The service was exceptional, so much care and time put in to making us feel special, plus great local knowledge and selection of South West produce.The food, desserts and drinks were really delicious, we’ll definitely be back again.It was such a beautiful and quiet atmosphere.
