A slice of Japan in Cairns. Ate here twice during my 5 night stay. The food was so fresh and tasty. This small restaurant has the feel and charm similar to those in the back ally ways of Kyoto.I will be returning next time I visit cairns.

Awesome Japanese Restaurant located upstairs in the Orchid Plaza in the heart of Cairns, just down from Woolworths.We had 4 dishes between 3 of us, Pork Tonkatsu, KFC Karaage Fried Chicken, Tempura Prawns and Pan fried pork slices wuth a biwl of rice. All delicious. With a jug of beer total bill came to $102.40 Very cheap for 3 people.I can highly recommend this great Japanese restaurant, great food and friendly staff.

A cute little Japanese rest located upstairs in the Orchard Plaza Shopping Centre in Central Cairns, not far from the popular Woolies supermarket. The interior is dated and rather cluttered with all kinds of wall hangings, other decorations and bamboo mats on the ceiling, but the ambience is super casual, relaxed and laid back. Although it’s a popular place we’ve never made a booking, but it’s probably advisable to get here early to make sure that you get a table.Service from the sole waitress, who doubles up as the maître d, was friendly, polite and efficient. Our orders were quickly taken and the food came out after a wait of around 15 minutes.My wife and I dined. First up, a can of ice cold refreshing VB, to whet my appetite. For food, we chose spring rolls, seaweed salad, teriyaki chicken and beef steak with rice. It was all fresh and tasty, served in generous portions and nicely presented to the table on colourful crockery. We both enjoyed our meals. Cost was a reasonable 55, and that’s solid value for money in these hyperinflationary times.The centre itself has seen better days. The only viable businesses on the upper level are this one, and a busy Korean joint next door. And accessing the toilets has now a real mission, which I assume is to keep out the vagrants and drifters who hang out around Cairns. You’ll need to get a card from the maître d which has the instructions and a passcode. But once inside the toilets, you’ll find them reasonably clean and well provisioned.We tend to visit this place every time we’re in Cairns, and we’ve never been disappointed.

Ordered the assorted tempura and sashimi bento box, the tempura were very nice and crunchy, the sashimi were ok (salmon was better than tuna and scallop). The waiting time for food was a bit long but overall it was a good dining experience.

Great decoration inside and friendly staff.Foods are okay, quite many option.But the proportion of the foods are a bit small,It felt like 70% full.

The only good thing about this restaurant is the decoration. Other than that, the foods are overly priced and for some reason it was extremely slow to serve the order including sashimi and salad.The sashimi was not fresh… I mean, you’re a Japanese restaurant in cairns – how hard is it?The beef was overly cooked. TBH I can do a similar job (and I’m a bad cook ey)Tempura only had one shrimp and we could barely find it (hidden deeeeeply in the flour).

Excellent food & excellent service with a good meal choices from the menu. Visited for the first time early evening on 17/10/21 & highly recommend a visit with meal prices very reasonable.
